Innsky 55SA1US Air Fryer XL 5.8 QT review
The 5.8-quart Innsky model 55SA1US air fryer was the first model from the company that I used. I had been hearing a lot about this air fryer as a few of my friends had been using it for a while, so I was curious to know what the craze was all about, and I must admit I was not disappointed.
Everything from the appearance to the cooking performance mostly met and sometimes exceeded my expectations.
I will try to share my experience in the simplest way possible by breaking it down into a few sections, starting with what you get in the box.
What will you get in the box?
Like many other basket-style air fryers I have used in the past, the box does not come with a lot of stuff. When you open the box, you see a small plastic zip lock bag with the warranty card, recipe book, and manual.
Other than this, there is the stainless steel air fryer with a square basket, and that’s it. I went for the stainless steel finish as I find it more attractive, but you can also opt for the black one. The warranty card covers you for a minimum of 18 months, and the recipe book includes 32 different recipes you can make on the air fryer.
How to set up and use the Innsky 5.8QT air fryer
There is hardly any setup required with this air fryer. All you have to do is remove it from the box and plug it into a power outlet. When you connect to an outlet, the air fryer will go to standby mode, so you must press the power button to switch it on and start air frying.
You can choose a preset depending on what you want to cook or input custom cook time and temperature. In the sections below, I will provide more insights on how to cook with this air fryer.
|7 presets (Steak, Chicken, French Fries, Shrimp, Seafood, Veggies & Bread)
|180℉ – 400℉
|LED touch screen
|Auto shut off
|Up to 60 minutes
|14.87 x 12.36 x 12.71 inches
- Easy to use with one touch control panel
- Large capacity square basket
- Cleans easily
- Keep warm function
- Simple and precise temperature control
- Can be quite noisy
- Slight burning plastic smell when new
Cooking performance of Innsky 55SA1US Air Fryer XL 5.8 QT
I could not wait to try this Innsky stainless steel air fryer, and I must admit I used it immediately after I finish unboxing. Given my experience with other air fryers, I started by preheating it for around 10 minutes to burn off the plastic smell.
Since I was using the air fryer for the first time, I decided to keep things simple by air frying frozen fries. I took a small portion (enough for 1 or 2 people), put it in the basket, lightly sprayed it with some olive oil, and popped the basket into the air fryer. Next, I selected the fries preset, and in exactly 18 minutes, the crispy fries were ready. Although the fries were not the crispiest, they were much better than what many other air fryers will cook and also quite tasty.
I have since used the air fryer to cook dozens of things in the recipe books, from a whole chicken to salmon. Everything seems to turn out quite nicely, but I must admit that sometimes I mess up some of the recipes, which is solely a user error and has nothing to do with the performance of the air fryer. And while I have not been keeping track of the number of recipes I have tried, I am sure it is at least 20 of the 32 recipes.
I also like how intuitive and easy to use the controls are and the one-touch cooking functions. However, some areas could be improved, such as making the appliance quieter, but overall there is hardly anything major to complain about the Innsky 55SA1US Air Fryer XL 5.8 QT.
Is Innsky 5.8QT air fryer easy to clean?
Cleaning this 5.8- quart air fryer is quite straightforward and should only take a few minutes, especially if you do it after every use.
Here is how to clean the air fryer in a few easy steps:
- Unplug and allow the air fryer to cool completely before you start cleaning. It can cause serious burns when hot.
- Remove and clean the basket. The basket is non-stick, so a quick cleanup with soap and a non-abrasive sponge in the sink should be enough. The manual advises against putting the frying tray or basket in the dishwasher.
- You can then clean the heating element with a brush to remove any food particles that might be stuck there.
- Lastly, you should wipe the surfaces with a non-abrasive cloth and warm, soapy water, and then rinse them with a clean, damp cloth. And that’s it!
Does the Innsky 5.8QT air fryer need to preheat before cooking?
With most air fryers, whether you preheat this Innsky model or not largely depends on the specific food you are cooking. However, Innsky encourages you to preheat their air fryers before placing food unless the appliance is already hot.
The fact that there is also a dedicated preheating function on the appliance is also a good indication that you have to preheat before cooking.
And the preheating process is also quite straightforward and quick. You only need to press the “Preheat” button and then the “Start/Pause” button to start preheating. The air fryer will preheat at 400℉ for 5 minutes and make 3 loud beeps to alert you when the machine is ready to air fry.
Innsky 10.6 Quart Air Fryer Oven Review
The other air fryer I have used from the brand is the Innsky 10.6 QT Air Fryer Oven. I bought it for my aunt as a birthday gift as she was fascinated by my 5.8-quart Innsky air fryer. However, from her comments and our conversations, I knew she would prefer something even more versatile and with a large capacity.
Although the air fryer is not mine, I have probably used it more times than mom because, as I told you, I am always looking to try out new kitchen appliances. And so, my review is also from firsthand experiences with the appliances.
What will you get in the box?
I had to be there when mom was unboxing as I was quite eager to see how different this air fryer was from my 5.8-quart model. And from the images on the box, it was clear there was a lot more stuff in there than what I got with mine.
Also, this air fryer doubles up as a toaster oven, rotisserie, pizza grill, and dehydrator, so it has to come with accessories to accommodate all these cooking styles.
The box includes a plastic bag with the manual, recipe book, and warranty card. There are also several accessories like a rotisserie basket, rotisserie shaft, removal tool, 8 skewers, 2 mesh racks, and a drip tray.
How to set up and use Innsky 10.6 QT air fryer
You need to remove all the packaging, sticker, and labels from the appliance before its first use. Also, it is important to check if everything is intact and that you receive everything you need, including all the listed accessories.
During this initial setup, the only other thing to do is clean all the accessories with warm water and mild soap. Also, remember to wipe the interior and exterior surfaces using a damp cloth.
Once all this is done, the only other things to do is to preheat the appliance, choose your cooking mode or preset and start cooking.
|9 presets (steak, fries, shrimp, fish, chicken, pizza, cake, roast & fruit)
|150℉ – 400℉
|Digital touch screen
|Auto shut off
|Up to 60 minutes
|14.2 x 11.4 x 14.3 inches
- Large capacity
- Accurate cook time and temperature
- Easy observation of food as it cooks
- Beautifully designed with a sleek brushed stainless steel finish
- Rotisserie baskets can be hectic to clean
Cooking performance Of Innsky 10.6 Quart Air Fryer Oven
The Innsky 10.6 QT large capacity air fryer is an all-in-one model that can replace your convection oven, toaster oven, pizza grill, and dehydrator as it can perform most of the functions of these appliances. Also, it has an easy-to-use digital control screen that includes 9 preset cooking functions for all your favorite foods, from steak and chicken to pizza.
Although I have tried a few recipes on this air fryer oven, chicken wings are my favorite and what I must make any time I visit mom. What I love about the air fryer is that the hot air gives the chicken wings just the right amount of crispiness, and they don’t dry as much as they sometimes do when deep frying. Also, they remain juicy inside, and the color is just perfect.
It takes 18 minutes to make the crispy wings, and you can have fries ready in just 15 minutes. And depending on the food type and quantity, you can dehydrate in as little as 2 hours. This means that besides cooking food to perfection, this air fryer does the job much faster than many other similar models. Takes just a little longer than deep frying.
Is Innsky 10.6 QT air fryer easy to clean?
Cleaning this air fryer does not require much effort or time. It entails removing the accessories and washing them in the sink with warm water and a mild detergent.
You should then remove the detachable door and clean it before cleaning the interior with a non-abrasive sponge and wiping the outside surface with a warm cloth. Also, most accessories are dishwasher safe but the manufacturer recommends hand washing them.
Although cleaning this air frier is quite easy, it is worth mentioning that the rotisserie basket can give you a hard time before figuring it out. But, this should not be a deal-breaker given how well the basket cooks food.
Does the Innsky 10.6QT air fryer need to preheat before cooking?
While some foods will not require preheating, generally, it is a good idea to preheat this air fryer and get it to the optimal temperature before adding the food. Preheating ensures the food cooks faster and also helps with the crispiness.
If what you want to cook requires preheating, you only need to tap the preheat button when the appliance is on. It only takes a few minutes, and the air fryer will beep to alert you when it is ready.
Who makes the Innsky air fryers?
The Innnsky brand of air fryers is made by Shenzhen Xiaojia Technology Co.Ltd, a kitchen appliance manufacturer, the official website of the brand is: innsky.co.
Innsky air fryer manual
Each air fryer will include a detailed hard copy manual with everything you need to know about the air fryers, from how to use them to cleaning and troubleshooting.
However, there are also PDF manual versions that you can get for download online if you prefer to have yours in soft copy.
There is a link to the PDF manual for the air fryers on their Amazon pages. However, here are the PDF manual links for the two air fryers in this review:
Will Innsky air fryers take up a lot of kitchen counter space?
Well, that depends on your specific model and how much counter space you have. If you have limited counter space, even small appliances might seem like they are taking up a lot of room.
That said, Innsky air fryers are compact despite their relatively large capacity and should take up little counter space.
For instance, the Innsky 10.6 QT Air Fryer Oven, the larger and bulkier model of the two air fryers in this review, is just 14.2 inches long. And so, it hardly takes up any significant counter space compared to the space a convection oven would take in the kitchen.
Substitutes of Innsky Air Fryer You Can Have a Try
In the unlikely event that the two Innsky air fryers in this review and the other models from the brand don’t suit your needs, the COSORI ProI Air Fryer Oven Combo is an excellent alternative-The No.1 air fryer in the market.
The highly versatile air fryer offers 13 one-touch functions to make it easy to prepare all your favorite dishes. Also, you can be sure of always getting juicier and crispier food thanks to the Thermo IQ technology and detachable basket style that ensures the grease separates from the food.
Another thing I like about this 5.8-quart model is that it has a shake reminder to ensure you shake or flip the food at the right time for consistently perfect results. And you do not have to struggle to figure out what to cook as it comes with at least 100 recipes crafted by professional chefs.
Lastly, cleaning up the air fryer should be hassle-free as the basket is dishwasher-safe, and the interior and exterior surfaces are easy to wipe down with a non-abrasive cloth.
Has the Innsky air fryer been recalled?
No, there has not been any recall of an Innsky air fryer in the USA or any other country. I have been using their products for a few years now and have not heard of any recent or past recalls.
Can Innsky air fryers dehydrate food?
Most air fryers can dehydrate food, but this still depends on your model. For example, the Innsky 10.6 QT Air Fryer Oven can dehydrate food in as little as 2 hours, but my basket-style Innsky 5.8QT air fryer does not seem to have a dedicated dehydrating function.
How do you cook French fries in an Innsky air fryer?
The process is quite straightforward as you only need to place the fries in the basket or mesh tray, depending on your particular model. You should then lightly spray some oil and sprinkle some salt on the fries, pop the basket in or close the air fryer door and then choose the fries preset before pushing the start button to cook them. They should be ready in 15 to 18 minutes.
Can you put foil in the Innsky air fryers?
Generally, it is okay to put aluminum foil in most air fryers as it can help improve hot air circulation and also make cleaning up easy by containing the mess. I am yet to put foil in my Innsky air fryer, but there is nothing in the manual that forbids it. And so, there is nothing to worry about, provided you take the necessary safety precautions.
Can parchment paper go in the Innsky air fryer?
Yes, like foil, it is also okay to use parchment paper in the Innsky air fryers. However, you need to be careful when using parchment paper, given it can catch fire easily and cause an accident. Also, parchment paper can block the hot air flow and affect how the food cooks, so you should avoid using it when it is unnecessary.
If you are on the hunt for the best air fryer, you need to buy one from Innsky now. They have several models available to cater to everyone, including basket-style and air fryers with shelf types.
What I love about these air fryers is that they provide a large capacity, and regardless of which model you choose, you can be sure of getting plenty of space to cook your favorite dishes. Also, they are powerful and easy to use for beginners, and the price is relatively affordable compared to other top brands.
From my firsthand experience with these air fryers, I can assure you this is one purchase you will never regret. So get one today, and remember to share your experience with the appliance in the comment section below.
